There is a slot behind each window for inserting paper with names or information. These custom-made signs can be made with one or multiple windows. They can be produced as ADA compliant signs with Braille and tactile lettering, or can be made without Braille. They are available with a thumb cut on the back plate, making inserting and removing paper easier.
The most common construction uses three solid 1/16 inch pieces of plastic: a back plate, a spacer and a front plate.
